Journalism 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 Dilruba Akter, Head & Assistant Professor, and Taslima Akter Erin, Lecturer and Assistant Proctor of the department of Journalism & Media Studies, participated in a 5-days Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) under the Youth Connect: Digital Citizenship and Misinformation Resilience Project, organized by the Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies (CQS), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) in partnership with the British Council Bangladesh from October 29 to November 3, 2025. The workshop empowers academicians to facilitate youths in digital media literary and community action projects on misinformation resilience. It brought together 20 faculty members from nine universities and fact-checkers across Bangladesh to build facilitation skills in fact-checking, digital safety, critical thinking, and community engagement, empowering them to train youths in combating misinformation and promoting responsible digital citizenship. #MisinformationResilience #MediaLiteracy #BritishCouncilBangladesh #Digitalcitizenship #JRNfaculties_PCIU

The Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Port City International University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) on 7th October 2025 at the university auditorium. The three-year MoU aims to promote joint initiatives in research, internships, and development communication. The ceremony was graced by Prof. Mainul Hasan Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Science and Law, and Prof. Dr. Ganesh Chandra Roy, Director of IQAC. The MoU was signed by Mr Mohammad Ali Shaheen, Focal Person of YPSA’s Advocacy Unit, and Dilruba Akter, Head of the Department. University proctor, faculty members, YPSA representatives, general secretary of PCIU Journalism Alumni Association, and students also joined the programme.

The 61st Trust Meeting of Port City International University was held on September 06, 2025, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. M. Majibur Rahman, Hon’ble Chairman of the PCIU Trust. The meeting was graced by the presence of Mr. Zahir Ahammed, Hon’ble Founding Chairman, Mrs. Nurjahan Begum, Hon’ble Member, along with other distinguished Members of the Board of Trustees. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Hon’ble Treasurer, and other senior officials of the university were also in attendance.

Students from the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Port City International University, accompanied by their faculty members, visited the Channel 24 Chattogram Center on 3rd September 2025 as part of their academic program. During the visit, they observed newsroom operations, program production processes, and the overall workflow of a modern television channel. This hands-on experience is expected to enrich their academic understanding and prepare them for future career in journalism and media.
